According to former owner John Staluppi, this glamorous 1954 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible was purchased new from Swisher Cadillac of Mansfield, Ohio, by the owner of the local taxi company branch who desired a Cadillac convertible to match the color of his cabs. Four subsequent owners were also from Mansfield, prior to the Cadillac’s acquisition by Mr. Staluppi in 1994.
This 1954 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible benefits handsomely from an exacting restoration with approximately 6,000 hours invested in the process over a 15-year span between 2001 and 2016. Finished in its originally specified Apollo Gold with Mint Green and cream leather upholstery, the Cadillac has been enhanced with powder-coated seat frames and double-sprung seats. The convertible top was originally black and replaced with dark green material – one of the available colors for 1954.
Mechanically, the 230 hp, 331 cid V-8 engine and Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, plus power options, top hydraulics, and gauges are all restored. All-new, properly scripted glass was installed, along with a stainless steel exhaust system. Other highlights include rebuilt under-dash heater cores, impeccably straight body panels, and a detailed engine bay. This outstanding and unusually specified Cadillac Convertible is sure to provide pride of ownership for many years to come.
