1927 marked a new and exciting chapter for Ford with the introduction of the Model A. An improvement in both design and performance over the Model T, it was offered in a wide variety of body styles and utilized standard controls more in line with other automakers. The new model surpassed its predecessor in every way, resonating with the buying public and becoming a resounding sales success. By 1929, Ford had sold over one million Model As.

The Model A Roadster offered here has spent years on display in Mark Smith’s collection alongside other collectible early Ford models. While the Roadster’s early history is not known, it has clearly benefited from a comprehensive restoration – corroborated by the 1985 AACA Senior First Prize badge prominently displayed on the radiator. Notable accessories and upgrades include twin side-mount spares, a rear luggage rack, ornate etched glass wind deflectors, which accompany the car, and a modern alternator for trouble-free charging. In static storage for many years, this striking early Ford will require recommissioning before resuming show duties or open-top cruising.

*Please note that this Lot, like all vehicles in this Auction, has been in long-term static storage and may not be currently operational. It will require mechanical attention prior to any road use.
