The product of an unlikely partnership, the Mercedes-Benz 500E was first unveiled in 1990 at the Paris Motor Show. As Mercedes-Benz was preoccupied with the engineering of the next-generation S-Class, they partnered with Porsche to develop a performance-oriented version of their popular E-Class. Tasked with fitting the 5.0-liter V-8 used in the SL into the narrow W124 chassis, Porsche hand built each chassis at their Zuffenhausen, Germany, plant before transporting it to Mercedes-Benz. Each 500E took a full 18 days to build, and quickly became a modern classic due to its refined performance and unique assembly process.
Originally delivered to Terry Feldmann’s Imports in Bloomington, Minnesota, this 500E remained in single family ownership until 2020. Pride of ownership was clear, with sparing use over nearly three decades and its original Black Pearl Metallic paint and Grey leather kept in impeccable condition. The 500E’s original tools, owner’s manuals, and window sticker were also carefully preserved. During current ownership, the 500E was treated to further servicing and upgrades, with comprehensive documentation on file. Recent service work included fitting new tie rods, drive-belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, and radiator. Once complete, genuine Evo II wheels from Mercedes-Benz Classic Center were installed, adding to its sporting appearance. Now showing less than 65,000 miles, with key improvements already completed at great expense, this 500E is ideal for your next adventure.
