The revolutionary F-1 Pickup was a much-needed win for the Ford Motor Company, as the company found itself in a financial struggle at the close of WWII. As Ford’s first all-new postwar vehicle, the F-1 featured a purpose-built frame; compliant yet robust suspension, a wide, tall, isolated cab, beautiful new styling, and the ability to specify Ford’s legendary flathead V-8. Intended for commercial use, Ford’s comfortable new Pickup found an entirely untapped market of people willing to trade their passenger cars for the useful small truck.

This 1951 Ford F-1 presents in dark green over black fenders with wide whitewall tires and wooden bed stakes. Over the decades, the truck has been meticulously maintained and sympathetically restored, as needed. Today, it is warmly patinated and wonderfully original, right down to its six-volt electrical system. Years of documents and receipts, included in the sale, support the F-1’s odometer reading of 23,576 miles when catalogued.

The first-generation Ford F-1 was a wildly popular truck in period and remains so today with car enthusiasts and casual observers alike. This delightful example is both beautiful and rugged – an ideal candidate for show, car meets, weekend drives, or even an occasional run to the hardware store.
