Introduced in 1948 in the footsteps of the American Jeep, the Land Rover has become an integral part of British postwar history, and the example offered here stands as one of the finest available. Built amid postwar steel shortages, early bodies were constructed using aluminum alloy, which made them both lightweight and impervious to rust. A decade later, a more advanced and restyled Series II was introduced, followed three years later by the Series IIa, with a revised, steel box-type ladder frame. Available in either an 88" or 109"wheelbase, both models were sold as an open utility vehicle with a soft top, or as a station wagon variant, which featured two rows of inward-facing rear jump seats and an insulating roof panel with Alpine light windows.
Abounding in authentic and beautifully restored details inside and out, this Land Rover benefits from a restoration by the previous owner, a marque collector and enthusiast. It features highly polished aluminum fender plates, aluminum roof rack, rear-mounted spare, and an interior completed to original standards, including an array of factory-correct instruments and controls, and banjo-style steering wheel. Offered in the original color combination of Pastel Green with Ivory roof and wheels, this impeccable Series II Station Wagon presents in a condition rarely seen and is certainly suitable for concours display. With a galvanized chassis for added durability, and electric Smittybilt winch, this classic Land Rover is ready to conquer the world.
