For 2018, BMW introduced a new car aimed at private racing teams. The BMW M4 GT4 was a turnkey race car, ready from delivery to take on the burgeoning GT4 racing class. In its first production year, the M4 GT4 had an overwhelmingly successful year with 33 wins and over 100 podium finishes. To cap it off, the 2018 Professional MotorSport World Expo Awards named it "Race Car of the Year."
Beginning with the M4 road car, BMW stripped all sound-deadening and employed a carbon fiber hood and doors as weight-saving measures, while aerodynamics were improved using a front splitter and massive rear wing. An FIA-compliant roll cage was utilized, and its racing seats and pedal box were lifted from the M6 GT3. Braking was accomplished through massive AP Racing disc brakes. The suspension received Öhlins coil-over dampers and adjustable anti-roll bars. Racing exhaust, air jacks, and a 33-gallon fuel cell rounded out the package.
This 2018 BMW M4 GT4 is consigned by a noted BMW collector who has owned virtually every M-series variant. Today, the car remains in as-delivered condition, with delivery mileage only – having never been raced or tracked. As most of these cars were actively raced, this may be the only remaining example of its kind.
It is a rare find for the BMW collector or the privateer who would like to go racing in a like-new 2018 M4 GT4.
