Introduced in 1999, the 996 GT3 continued Porsche۪s tradition of building performance-oriented 911s that were equally proficient on the track or road. Developed to homologate the 911 GT3 R and RSR race cars for motor sports competition, enthusiasts residing in North America had to wait until the 2004 and 2005 model years to purchase one of the 1,018 examples of the 996 GT3 exported to those markets.

This 2004 Porsche 996 GT3 was delivered new to its first – and still current – owner through Park Place of Dallas, Texas, in June 2004. Finished in extra-cost Atlas Grey Metallic over a black leather interior, additional options included xenon headlamps, cruise control, thicker steering wheel, and aluminum instrument dials. In March 2005, this GT3 was sent to RAC Performance, an authorized distributor for RUF cars, parts, and accessories in Carrollton, Texas, where it received an RGT engine conversion. The 3.6-liter M96/79 flat-six was enhanced with a modified induction system, new camshafts, sportier exhaust, and remapped electronic control unit resulting in a manufacturer-claimed 395 hp and 300 lbs./ ft. of torque. Other installed RUF embellishments included an Alcantara steering wheel, shift knob, and more aggressive RGT front bumper.

Displaying just 22,800 miles at the time of cataloguing, this one-owner Porsche presents very well throughout. Subtly reworked by RUF, this GT3 is built to run down pure bred race cars on the track and stands ready to deliver for its next owner.
