The 2010 introduction of an updated 997 GT3 RS heralded improvements over the outgoing model. In addition to an enlarged, more powerful 3.8-liter Mezger engine, dynamic engine mounts and RS-specific tuning sharpened handling and helped the model's active suspension to adapt to minute changes in road surface, while a wider rear track and revised bodywork enhanced cornering grip, downforce, and stability.
This 2010 Porsche 997 GT3 RS 3.8 was sold new to its first – and only – collector owner through Porsche West Houston, Texas, in April 2010. This RS is painted in Aqua Blue Metallic over black leather with contrasting Guards Red wheels and graphics – one of only 27 US-specification examples finished in this striking combination. Additional options specified included the Sound Package Plus, lightweight headlights, and Sport Chrono Package Plus. Presenting in excellent original condition throughout, this GT3 RS 3.8 registered less than 7,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, and is offered with its original window sticker, purchase documentation, books, keys, and a 2017 service invoice from Porsche Colorado Springs.
Described by Automotive Press International as "the best driver's 911 yet," most of the 541 units destined for the US were sold out before the first car was built. A modern-day collectible, this 997 GT3 RS 3.8 presents an exciting opportunity to be enjoyed on the road or track, just as Porsche intended.
