The Ferrari 550 Maranello was unveiled at the Nürburgring in July 1996 and, following 23 years of mid-engine architecture, it marked the fabled automaker’s triumphant return to a front engine, rear drive configuration. The striking new V-12 grand tourer was an unambiguous departure from its predecessor the Testarossa – its lithe new Pininfarina design most reminiscent of its vaunted ancestor, the 365 GTB/4 Daytona.
This 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello is presented in the quintessential Rosso Corso (Racing Red) and complemented by a black leather interior with red Daytona inserts. According to a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, it was sold new in Illinois before spending significant time in Ohio. The consignor purchased the 550 in 2016, adding it to his small collection of Italian thoroughbreds. The Maranello is desirably fitted with modular Speedline wheels from a 550 Barchetta, adding a unique flair to an already alluring package. Showing just over 20,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, this Ferrari benefits from a December 2021 service at Alfa Romeo Maserati Stuart in Florida, which included new timing and drive belts, alternator, fluids, filters, and spark plugs. The consignor reports it has also received new tires and a new battery.
Offered with books, records, tool kit, and car cover, this classic V-12 Ferrari is ready for a new owner’s hand to guide its gated shifter into gear and off to a favorite twisty road.
