Built on its basic but dynamically superior E30 chassis, BMW developed the M3 to compete with Mercedes-Benz in various forms of motor sports, including touring car racing and rallying. Helping to differentiate it from the standard E30 coupe were unique bodywork featuring boxed fender flares and a rear wing, and most importantly, the S14 DOHC four-cylinder engine. More than the sum of its parts, competition variants of the M3 would go on to accumulate an impressive racing record that included five wins in six years at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and four wins in five years at the 24 Hours of Spa.
According to its CARFAX Vehicle History Report, this M3 was bought new by an owner living near Yorba Linda, California. The car’s history file, containing well over 150 pages, shows that by the late 1990s the BMW was under the care of Hani Thomas, also a Southern California resident. By 2008, it had joined the collection of Doug Brown in Tuxedo Park, New York.
Always fastidiously maintained, the M3 has been tastefully upgraded with 16" BMW Style 5 wheels, as well as a Sport Evolution-style front splitter and rear spoiler, and M-Technik steering wheel. Rudy Mancinas purchased this M3 in 2019, adding it to his formidable collection of Porsches and BMWs. The M3 showed approximately 56,770 miles at the time of cataloguing, putting it in a very desirable range for its next lucky owner.
