The BMW M3 needs little introduction to even the most casual automotive enthusiast. Based on the fabulous E30 platform, the first M3 was built strictly to satisfy FIA homologation regulations for BMW’s assault on touring car racing and rallying. The modern-day 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine was developed for the M3, producing roughly 190 hp. Despite somewhat tepid initial sales of the model, of which just under 18,000 were built between 1988 and 1991, the M3 has become one of the most sought-after models from the 1980s.

This M3 was sold new in Kansas and finished in the rare and desirable color of Hennarot (Henna Red) over an even rarer black interior; most Henna M3s were fitted with beige leather. According to a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, the first few owners of this M3 used it regularly, with mileage readings recorded as 90,200 in 1997 and 164,505 in 2011. A web post from 2014 notes that the car’s engine was upgraded to 2.5-liter specification at some point in prior ownership.

Rudy Mancinas acquired the M3 for his collection in 2017 as a companion to his low-mileage Alpine White BMW (Lot 16). In his care, the car was fitted with tasteful improvements from BMW’s M3 Sport Evolution model, including 16" BBS wheels, rear spoiler, sport seats, and a suede steering wheel. Showing 170,771 miles at the time of cataloguing, this lovely M3 is accompanied by a history file and service receipts, and is ready for your closest inspection.
