Introduced in 1999, the 996 GT3 continued Porsche’s tradition of producing lightweight, performance-oriented 911s that were equally at home on the track or the road. Developed to homologate the 911 GT3 RS and RSR race cars for motor sports competition, enthusiasts residing in North America had to wait until the 2004 and 2005 model years to purchase one of the 1,018 available 996 GT3s in those markets.
This 996 GT3 is one of 96 examples finished in Speed Yellow for the 2004 model year. Contrasted on the inside by a black leather interior, additional options specified included Xenon headlights, aluminum-look instrument dials, automatic climate control, a thicker steering wheel, Speed Yellow seat belts, and black floor mats with Porsche lettering. In April 2020, Porsche Plano in Texas installed a Fabspeed GT3 Supercup exhaust system, sport headers, sport catalytic converter X-pipe, and complementing performance software. More recently, this GT3 has been “Rudyfied” with a pair of OEM Porsche bucket racing seats and painted center console.
Accompanied by books, tools, keys, and service receipts, this GT3 displayed only 16,247 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and presents in exemplary condition throughout as would be expected under the care of Rudy Mancinas. Declared a “Shark swimming in a 911 pool” in a June 2003 issue of Car & Driver, this pristine example is ready to deliver for its next owner.
