A Gorgeous 1900C Presented in Exceptional Color Combination
Alfa Romeo emerged from WWII determined to pick up right where it left off, creating a stylish and sporting 2+2 coupe that utilized a twin-cam, inline four-cylinder engine. This engine design would become the company’s signature powerplant. The elegant 1900C has become emblematic of the 1950s la dolce vita culture and Alfa Romeo’s return to prominence.
The 1900C, “C” for corto, or short chassis, was introduced in 1951. This 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint is a desirable and early “first series” example powered by the high performance Tipo 1308 engine. According to previous owner Daniele Turrisi, a noted Italian car specialist, this example was restored in Italy about 10 years ago. Turrisi had purchased it from a prominent collector of Italian cars, near Rome. He then replaced the tires, performed a full service, and subsequently sold the Alfa Romeo to American collector David Word. The Alfa Romeo has been used sparingly since its restoration and was recently acquired by a new American owner.
The Alfa Romeo presents today in beautiful condition, finished in an attractive gray and silver two-tone color scheme with an elegant interior trimmed in leather and cloth. The Sprint features a nicely detailed engine compartment, Nardi steering wheel, and period-correct Condor radio, and was exhibited at the 2018 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. Eligible for numerous motoring events worldwide, this 1900C Sprint, with its striking mid-century Italian design and excellent color scheme, is bound to garner attention wherever it goes.
