Staggering Performance Coupled with Modern Amenities

To commemorate its 100-year anniversary, Ford was in search of special projects to celebrate the best moments in the automaker’s history. Under the direction of J Mays, Camilo Pardo designed the GT40 concept car to pay homage to Ford’s 1-2-3 sweep at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and the automaker’s consecutive victories from 1967 through 1969. Unveiled at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show, the concept car received an overwhelming reaction, making Ford’s decision to release a limited-production model an easy one.

From the outset, the Ford GT was destined to be a true American supercar. Based on a lightweight aluminum space frame with aluminum bodywork, mid-mounted 550 hp, 5.4-liter 32-valve supercharged DOHC V-8, and Ricardo six-speed transaxle, the new GT’s power was staggering. With outstanding mid-engine handling characteristics, ferocious braking, and Ford reliability, the GT outperformed many of its supercar contemporaries.

This 2005 Ford GT presents a sophisticated and stealth-like appearance in rare “stripe-delete” black exterior, with black leather interior. According to a copy of the window sticker included with the sale, this one-owner Ford GT was delivered to Mel Clayton Ford in Santa Barbara, California. Equipped with an optional McIntosh sound system, forged aluminum wheels, and gray painted calipers, this exceptional GT has traveled just over 1,900 miles at the time of cataloguing. Also included with the sale are service receipts, CARFAX Vehicle History Report, owner’s manual, air compressor, and battery tender.

This striking, stripe-delete Ford GT presents a rare opportunity to own a highly collectible, ultra-low-mileage, single-owner, high-horsepower American icon.
