In 1957, Juan Manuel Fangio drove a red Maserati 250F to victory at the Nürburgring to secure his fifth Formula 1 Drivers World Championship. This meticulously designed half-scale re-creation of that world-renowned track titan was built by Carrozzeria Allegretti of Modena, in a limited-production run under license from Maserati.
Superb in its attention to detail, this flaming red monoposto (single-seater) featuring a white stripe, Maserati crest, and iconic side exhaust bears the stamp of the original in almost every detail. It has a tubular steel frame and handmade aluminum body measuring 300 cm long and 101 cm wide, and weighs in at a svelte 225 kg. The engine is a 250 CC Benelli four-stroke with a five-speed manual gearbox, able to summon 50 mph – a monumental achievement for this diminutive doppelgänger. This Allegretti was featured in the Los Angeles Times, when it was showcased at the Auto Show for Christmas Toys in Los Angeles.
The car comes accompanied by a set of two keys, the Los Angeles Times article, and an Allegretti brochure featuring the car – and a lot of swagger for such a piccolo auto da corsa!
