Highlights
An Impeccably Restored, Factory-Built 100M Certified by the Austin-Healey 100M “Le Mans” Registry One of Very Few Examples Awarded a Gold Badge by the Healey Concours Registry Accompanied by Certificates, Original Manual, Tool Kit, and Knock-Off Hammer Surely One of the Finest Healey 100Ms in the Country

This exquisite Austin-Healey 100M is among the finest of the 640 examples built by the factory. It was sold new to Manfred Knauf, who ran a European car dealership in Tacoma, Washington. In 2010, the Healey was sold by his estate to the consignor, who is Chairman of the judging committee for Austin-Healey Concours USA. The 100M, which was a complete car upon purchase, was entrusted to the renowned specialist Lynn Martin at Forever Healeys for a comprehensive, nut and bolt restoration to the highest standards. All mechanicals were rebuilt and the original engine was fitted with a Denis Welch aluminum cylinder head and Cape International exhaust headers. While originally black with red coves and interior, the 100M was carefully finished in solid black over striking green upholstery, achieving an aesthetic appeal that has to be witnessed to be fully appreciated. The restoration was completed in 2016 and resulted in a car of uncommon quality and stature.

Following the Healey’s restoration, the consignor applied for the very stringent 100M certification process offered by the Austin-Healey 100M “Le Mans” Registry. The resulting certificate reads “This car has been confirmed by the registry as a factory-built 100M.” Additionally, the car’s British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, long considered the birth certificate of untold numbers of English sports cars, reads “The B.M.I.H.T. can confirm that this vehicle is a genuine factory-built Austin-Healey 100 M ‘Le Mans’.”

Its heritage and rarity cemented as one of just 190 of the 640 factory-built examples believed to remain, this incredible 100M was shown at a 2016 meet run by the Austin-Healey Concours Registry, where it was awarded a gold level certification, the club’s highest honor. In 2017, the Healey was invited to be shown at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, an event well known for its quality entrants. Currently, this 100M remains ready to be judged at a very high level, and is said by the consignor to be correct right down to the lightning zipper pull on the tonneau and very rare, original Derrington steering wheel with 5" hub.

The lovely roadster is accompanied by its tool kit, original manual, and correctly dated jack, as well as photos of the restoration process. It offers sports car aficionados a rare opportunity to buy a factory-built 100M with all of the hallmarks of a top-level collector car.
