According to extensive build records on file, the Silver Cloud III offered here, chassis LSEV1, was built to US specifications and equipped from the Crewe factory with optional power windows, air-conditioning, Sundym tinted glass, and a radio with an electric aerial. It was delivered new in January 1965 to its first owner, Albert J. Forte, a real estate developer in Washington, D.C. Currently registering under 76,500 miles, the Rolls-Royce presents well throughout and comes with an organized delivery and maintenance file.
Numerous service records from the 1990s document that Mr. Forte was a fastidious owner, retaining Euro Motorcars in Bethesda, Maryland to perform regular service as well as small adjustments. In about 2005, Matthew Smith, also of Washington, D.C., purchased the Silver Cloud. He continued to have the car serviced at Euro Motorcars, but retained the renowned Vantage Motorworks of Miami, Florida, to perform a refinish of the car’s wood veneers, craft a new headliner, and re-trim the dash top and parcel shelf.
Subsequently, the stately Rolls-Royce was acquired by Allen Wise of South Carolina, before its purchase by the consignor. Offered with original tools and its hardcover owner’s manual, the Silver Cloud is accented by a set of Mouton wool carpet overlays and a flask and crystal glass set hidden in the passenger-side front door panel. This Silver Cloud will be welcomed into many car clubs, as well as a variety of concours and tour events. It is a fine, honest example of one of the very best models Rolls-Royce ever produced, in lovely condition, desirably optioned, and ready for its fortunate new owner.
