The historic marque Spyker was revived at the dawn of the 21st century due to the efforts of Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn, who envisioned building a bespoke Dutch supercar. The foundation for all modern Spykers, the C8 Spyder debuted in 2000. It featured an aluminum spaceframe chassis, 4.2-liter Audi V-8, manual gearbox, and alloy bodywork brimming with exotic details that pay tribute to the company’s aviation heritage. The Laviolette, introduced in 2001, was a closed version of the Spyder, with a fixed glass canopy and integrated roof air intake. Only 58 examples were built, making the Laviolette far more exclusive than its open counterpart.
The C8 Laviolette presented here is likely the finest survivor in existence and the sole example produced in the beautiful color scheme of Black Olive Green over Saddle leather. Not only is this particular Laviolette highly optioned and unique in its appearance, it also has the distinction of being displayed at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. Delivered new to Beerens, a Belgian Spyker dealer, this car has always been owned by collectors and has traveled less than 45 miles from new.
Before importing the car to the US, the current owner enlisted Jasper den Dopper, the Dutch Spyker authority, to carry out a comprehensive, no-expense-spared service. Additionally, Mr. den Dopper provided the owner a letter confirming the car’s build details and states, “As far as I know; this is the cleanest and lowest mileage Spyker C8 Laviolette in the world and given the fact that I am the only supply currently of Spyker parts, this is the most well maintained Spyker too.” Accompanying the car is fitted factory luggage, an owner’s manual in the original aluminum binder, a factory service manual, US and European license plate holders, as well as both factory-option steering wheels.
Spyker will surely be remembered as one of the most charismatic supercar manufacturers of the modern era, and the opportunity to acquire this singular, time capsule Laviolette is one not to be missed.
