A Lovely BSA Perfect for Road and Track Use or Static Display
The BSA Gold Star was introduced before World War II as an M24 model fitted with a 496 cc engine. Postwar Gold Stars were built in 350 cc and 500 cc form. They became the bike of choice for amateur and professional racers and were versatile enough to have success on road courses, on flat tracks, and in enduro competition. Gold Stars would win the Isle of Man Clubmans Junior and Senior TT a total of 11 times between 1949 and 1956. In addition to their prodigious success on track, Gold Stars were among the most capable and exciting street bikes of the era.
This lovely Gold Star DBD34 was purchased by the consignor in 1996 and has remained in static storage as a part of his world class collection of motorcycles and sports and racing cars. Desirable features include clip-on handlebars, Akront valanced alloy rims, optional tachometer, Amal carburetor, rare Lyta “Clubman” aluminum fuel tank, and the desirable “RRT2” close-ratio gearbox. While the BSA shows a lovely patina from years of careful display, it is missing its taillight lens and will require recommissioning before any use.
The Gold Star DBD34 is the pinnacle of the legendary line and highly sought-after by collectors.
